ICJC 2020: FUOYE Student Emerges Second Runner Up at Essay Competition

Samuel Ajala, a 400L student of History and International Relations, has emerged the second runner up at the International Campus Journalism Conference essay competition held at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife on the 1st of February, 2020.

The conference which was tagged “Press Freedom: Journalism Under General Muhammadu Buhari,” witnessed the gathering of several student journalists from different higher institutions across Nigeria.

Agbaje Ayomide from the University of Ilorin and Peter Oyebamiji from the host school emerged as winner and 1st runner up respectively.

The essay competition was organized by Association of Campus Journalists, OAU Chapter and sponsored by Opera News Hub.

During the presentation of awards, Mr. Micheal Abimboye, a senior editor with Opera News Hub, lauded the efforts of the winners and also encouraged them to do more.

The winner won N50,000, while the first runner up and 2nd runner up won N30,000 and N20,000 respectively.

Samuel, a member of UCJ FUOYE is also currently the National Publicity Officer of the Nigerian Union of Campus Journalist.
