Asiat Jimoh Ayobami, of the department of English and Literary Studies, has emerged the President-elect of the Faculty of Arts Students Association (FASA) on the 4th March, 2020.

In a keenly contested election, Ayobami polled 276 of the total votes cast to defeat her rival, Olasukanmi Ogunleye, from the department of History and International Studies, who polled 264 of total votes cast.

Though the election was mildly peaceful, it was marred by irregularities. UCJ FUOYE had earlier reported how Aborishade Olawale, a recent graduate of the English and Literary Studies department caught some loyalists of Olasukanmi Ogunleye with ticked multiple ballot papers getting ready to fill the ballots box with them.

However, Samuel Ajala, the electoral chairman claimed that the election was free, fair and credible.

Asiat Jimoh Ayobami, a final year student, will be the first female to emerge as the association’s president since it got registered in 2018.
