Corona Virus: FUOYE Management Closes School, Orders Students To Vacate their Hall of Residence

Following the directive by the Federal Ministry of Education to close down all tertiary institutions across the country, the management of the Federal University Oye Ekiti, has closed down the institution.

This is contained in a signed memo by Mufutau A. Ibrahim, the University’s Ag. Registrar on Friday, 20 March, 2020. He said the closure begins from Monday, 23 March, 2020.

“In the light of the Federal Government’s directive and evolving reality of the Corona Virus (COVID-19), the University Management at its meeting held on Friday, 20 March, 2020, directed the closure of the University with effect from Monday, 23rd March, 2020, until further notice.”

The statement further states that all students living within the school are to vacate their hall of residence immediately, while staff of the university are to stay at home beginning from Monday, 23rd March, 2020.

“Management also directed all students to vacate their Hall of Residence and the University’s premises immediately, while staff are to stay at home with effect from Monday, 23 March, 2020 until further notice.”

Conclusively, “you are all advised to abide by the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the Virus,” he said.

The University’s head of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Ademuyiwa, confirmed the development to UCJ FUOYE.
