The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) students have expressed their grief at the Information Communication Technology (ICT) center as the first semester examinations for the 2021/2022 session commenced on March 27th, 2022.
The students had to wait in line under a shade before being summoned into the examination hall before the start of the 2021/2022 session exams. The students have experienced a great deal of agony while taking their exams as a result of this.
To lessen the stress students experience before entering the examination hall, the school administration did, however, provide several chairs at the ICT center during the required election break.

Not withstanding the accommodations made by the school administration, the students continue to experience this discomfort, as many of them pass out or get hurt just before their exams.
Speaking with UCJ FUOYE, Aniegbo Tessy, a 200-level student from the department of Library and Information science, faculty of Education, stated that her exam was postponed yesterday due to the congestion at the ICT centre.
“I was supposed to have EDU 201 yesterday but it was postponed due to an increased crowd. Some people also wrote the mock examination for the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB)”
Aniegbo noted that the university should “have more than one ICT center rather than allocating overpopulated students to just one place”.

Owoseni Elizabeth, a 300-level student of Microbiology from the Faculty of science mentioned that the newly-constructed chairs “are not convenient for the students. She added that “lots of people got injured and some people’s clothes were torn in the process of moving from one chair to another”.
For Badmus Gloria, a 200-level student from the Faculty of Education, the experience she had at the ICT centre yesterday while trying to get into the hall for her EDU 201 exams was “an excruciating one.”
“Even the security men would push you to enter the hall. There is no coordination whatsoever. The school is not even considerate of asthma patients or other related illnesses,” Badmus lamented.
Adun Darasimi, a 200 level student of Criminology and Security Studies told UCJ FUOYE that the experience was worse.
“Today was more crowded than the previous days. They also cancelled CSS207 and some other courses. The security were also beating us as if we are criminals all in the name of doing exams.”
At about 4 pm, Prof. Abayomi Fashina, the Vice-Chancellor of the university arrived at the ICT centre to check the situation.
“A student even passed out while the VC carried her. So many students were taken out of the centre when the VC was around,” says Seun Awolowo, a 100-level student of Sociology.
UCJ FUOYE can confirm that all ICT exams have been suspended till further notice after today’s incident.
