By UCJ FUOYE

Folorunsho Damilola, a 200 level student of History and International Studies gave up the ghost on Saturday, September 18, 2021, after visiting the University Medical Centre at 9:00 am.

Rumours have been peddled about Folorunsho’s demise and UCJ FUOYE has reached the concerned bodies on campus.

The above report states that the Medical Center did not attend to the late student

Odunayo Olakunle, the Public Relations Officer of the National Association of History and International Studies Students made it known that the Student Union President, departmental President, SUG PRO, and the Faculty of Arts’ PRO were present at the University Medical Centre.

“They were the ones who took her for further treatment before she gave up,” he said.

He concluded by saying, “she was a sickle cell patient, she got to the school medicals very late that they could not find a vein in her body to collect blood and run a test on her”.

The Medical Director of the University Health Centre, Dr. Misbau Olawale also explained how Folorunsho got to the medicals by 9 am and was transferred to Ido Teaching Hospital before 9:30 am.

“There was no way she would not be attended to given the fact she could not even walk. The patient got to the University Medical Centre at 9 am this morning and the doctor on duty got to know that she had been sick for some time.”

NAHISS has also issued a circular to debunk the news shared on social media. According to the report, the news going around that the school’s Medical Centre denied her immediate medical attention is fake.

The Students Union has also issued a memo to the entire student populace, debunking the rumours flying around about Folorunsho’s demise.

“While we are pained with this unfortunate event that befell us, we need to set some records straight and also to clear rumours flying, which is not only malicious but defaming that her sudden demise was caused by the University Health Center,” the memo reads in part.
