The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), has held matriculation ceremony for its fresh students on Friday 28th of October, 2022.
The event, which was the 11th matriculation ceremony of the varsity and the second under the watch of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abayomi Fasina, took place at the Main Auditorium, Phase one of the institution with over 7,000 matriculants.
While congratulating the newly admitted students in his speech, Mr Fasina encouraged them to maximize their stay on campus.
“I urge all to seek the opportunity to actualize their potential and become a national and environmental asset,” he said.
Also, the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Professor Dosu Malomo further admonished the freshmen to do everything with moderation.
Speaking with UCJ FUOYE, some of the students expressed their happiness.
“I feel fantastic and super excited to be matriculated today,” Olorunlekan Oluwapelumi, a student of Peace and Conflict Resolution said.
“It is done only once and I am happy to be matriculated,” Zainab Amope, a member of the Faculty of Education explained.
Like the elated students, the parents were not left out in the joy.
While thanking God for her daughter’s matriculation, Bukola Diran advised the matriculated students to be serious with their academics.
“My advise for them is that they should face what they are here for and go for lectures on time. They should also put God first in all they do,” she said.
The president of the Students’ Union Government, Teslim Salaudeen also urged the new students not to be distracted and focus on their academic career.
