The Federal University Oye-Ekiti management has released the 2020/2021 session resumption protocol for new students of the University.
The internal memo was released on Friday, 12th of August, 2021 via email with a subject line “Resumption Protocol and Procedure of Registration of Fresh Students for 2020/2021 Academic Session”.
The University management provided some protocols, timelines and guidelines to freshmen which are to be strictly complied with to guarantee a successful and seamless registration process.
Medical screening and online screening of fresh students will begin on Monday, 16th of August, 2021.
Resumption and Registration will begin on Monday, 30th of August, 2021, while the orientation of new students commences on Wednesday, 1st of Sept., and ends on Friday, 3rd of Sept., 2021.
Lecture begins for fresh students on Monday, 6th of Sept., while registration ends on Monday, 20th of Sept., 2021.
The memo also notes that the new students will be matriculated on Friday, 15th of October, 2021.
The Acting Registrar of the University, Mr. Mufutau Ibrahim has also revealed that the university is ready to implement the proposed academic calendar.
He made this known in an interview with him on Saturday, 7th of August, 2021.
He revealed that the proposed calendar is reliable because it has been approved at the 46th meeting of the senate held last month and the “school is ready to implement it”.
The Registrar went further to unearth that the university does not want to waste time.
“Aside from the calendar, we are trying to see if we can ask the fresh students to come for their medicals before the resumption on the calendar. The staylites will finish their exams soon and we don’t want to waste time at all. The freshers should resume a week or two for their medicals,” he said.
Mr. Mufutau also noted that the Senate, which is the highest organ of the University has approved the academic calendar for the 2020/2021 session.
“If there is no crisis, if there is nothing that would disrupt the calendar, we are going to implement it,” he assured.
Recall that UCJ FUOYE had recently published a fact-checking report on the academic calendar which confirmed the calendar is yet to be released.
Mr. Mufutau, however, noted that an approved calendar and an official release are two different things.
“The calendar has been approved but has not been released to the general public. By the time we release the calendar, it means we are ready to implement it,” he clarified.
