UCJ FUOYE Elects New Executive Members

The Union Campus Of Journalists, Federal University Oye Ekiti chapter has elected new executive members to lead the affairs of the union for the 2021/2022 academic sessions.

The election, which was held on Saturday, 12th October, 2022 at the Faculty of Arts lecture hall was headed by the outgoing President and the Vice President, Helena Idiovo and Muktar Balogun respectively.

In attendance were 13 members of the union who are students from different departments at the Federal University Oye Ekiti.

Sunday Awosoro, a 300-level student of Education and English Language, emerged as the President of the union with 100 percent votes of the 13 accredited votes. Precious Ewuji, a 200-level student of Education and English Language emerged as the Vice President with 13 votes while Samuel Sodunke, 200-level student of English and Literary Studies won the seat of Vice President 2 with a total of 13 votes.

Alimot Akinsanya, a 200-level Mass Communication student of Fuoye emerged as the General Secretary while Taiwo Babalola, a 300-level English and Literary Studies student emerged as the Treasurer with 13 votes.

Peace Oladipo, a 300-level Mass Communication student won the Public Relations Officer seat with 13 votes; Rebecca Agun, a 300-level English and Literary Studies student remained the Public Relations Officer 2; and Gbenga Ademoye, a 300-level student of Computer Science clinched the position of the graphics designer.

While presenting his manifesto, the President-elect, Sunday Awosoro assured the members of the union of good leadership, urging them to embrace diligence and hard work.

“If I become your next president, my executive members will drill you till you do big things and make your byline known out there. If you will not grow, you will not stay in UCJ FUOYE.

“We are the Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ) FUOYE. If we are notable individuals, the union is notable. If we have those connections, UCJ FUOYE does. If we grow up, this union can never go down. Join me, and let us raise the flag of UCJ FUOYE beyond Ekiti state,” he said.

Speaking at the occasion, the outgoing Editor-in-Chief, Muktar Balogun urged the new executives to be a perfect example and prioritize punctuality and appearance in the course of discharging their duties.
