Claim: A viral post making the rounds on WhatsApp with a claim that a student of FUOYE has died during a CBT examination.
Verdict: False. Information from the Special Adviser to the Vice Chancellor on Media tagged this rumor as fake news.

The students of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) who had a computer based examination on the 30th of March, 2023 experienced difficulty accessing the ICT center. This was as a result of overcrowding that occured with the JAMB students who also had their mock examination slated for the same day.
As a result, reports had it that many students dropped unconscious during the process. Among them was a female student said to be asthmatic. Following this, WhatsApp users have started circulating an information that the unidentified lady eventually died.
Due to the massive reshares gathered from this claim and its potential of misinformation, we have decided to run this fact check.
Verification
UCJ FUOYE contacted the Special Adviser on Media to the Vice Chancellor, Wole Balogun. Bluntly but clearly, he debunked the claim and termed it “fake news”.
He said:
“There is no such thing pls sir. No student died today during the issues that came up with the CBT examinations as the rumor is being peddled by fake news noisemakers.”
Also, Emmanuel Adebiyi, a 400-level student of Microbiology department who visited the school clinic this evening confirmed that no one died. He also affirmed that other students that were rushed to the school clinic are currently responding to treatments.
In another statement shared with UCJ FUOYE by Mr. Balogun, it has been announced that all CBT based exams have been suspended for the next one week in order to resolve all issues.
Conclusion
Consequently, the circulating rumor that a student died in FUOYE is false.
